British Sign Language & Communication

A nationally recognised (Signature) qualification, which covers the following modules:

BSL320 – Sign Linguistics
A study of the linguistics of BSL and how these are applied in conversation, for example the use of time, space and verbs in BSL.

BSL321 – Receptive Skills
Understanding BSL and its associated features.

BSL322 – Conversation and Production of BSL
Presenting information on a chosen topic at level 3 standard.

In addition to this, we include aspects of deafness such as technology and aids to communication used by deaf people, deaf community and culture, lipreading and understanding more about life as a deaf person on all the courses we deliver, and at level 3, Deaf history, so learners gain a wider knowledge of communication with deaf people as well as sign language.

Groups will be encouraged to take part in visits to the local deaf club; these will be arranged as part of the course.

Duration: 38 Weeks

Cost: £75.00 to reserve a place. £75.00 deposit at enrolment. Total course fee £1150.00 payable in instalments.
